Five Friday Wishes!

I saw this on one of the blogs that I read- a chance to list some of the things you are wishing for and/or want!

Here is goes....

1. Fall Season- the leaves, the smell, the cool breeze, the colors, anniversary,
apple festival, mugs of hot apple cider!

2. Vacation- although we don't have one planned until December, I am already excited
and feeling the need to get AWAY!

3. An ear that will stop acting up- another ear infection= no fun!!! Hopefully this medication will start to make it feel better really soon.

4. Some new Clothes! I love sweaters and long sleeve shirts- so comfy and perfect for the fall season :)
Here are some that I have been looking at...

5. A fun, short little getaway! Maybe a date night or date day doing something fun and exciting that we have not done in awhile. Perhaps a picnic, long ride with the top down, good food, exciting adventure, etc. Anything would be fun, maybe we can get into something this weekend!!

Putting Things Into Perspective....

Tonight I covered the Emergency Department (ED) at the local hospital. I met with a patient who is a victim of domestic violence. She has been married to her husband for 12 years who recently started abusing her- both verbally and physically. After three pretty severe beatings (needless to say, she is lucky to even be alive) she got up the nerve to leave him- her strength is amazing!
She is now staying in a homeless shelter at night and at a domestic violence agency during the day. Her whole life has been turned upside down and into shambles. I can not even start to imagine how she must feel- she has lost her husband, her life, her two dogs, and her dignity. How does one person cope from living the "solid" life with her husband in her own home to staying in a homeless shelter??
Her eyes revealed the pain she is going through- I wish I could have made everything better for her, if only it was that easy. Instead, all I could do was be an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and a mouth to provide words to empower. Fortunately, there are great resources in the area for those who suffer from domestic violence, but it still leaves you with the desire to do more.
My thoughts and prayers are with this poor lady this evening.... and all of the other people in the world who are suffering, especially those of domestic violence. I can't imagine what it would be like to be scared in your own home and of the person you love. It certainly puts things into perspective in your own life....

I am officially OBSESSED!!!

Rusty and I had a wonderful weekend!! We spent some much needed quality time together, mainly just hanging around the house with the pups!! Sometimes that is the BEST time.... I don't need anything fancy or action packed weekend to have fun!

Friday night Rusty and I went out to dinner to Red Lobster..... it was soooo good! Their cheese biscuits are so good..... I think I could just eat those for my dinner, but my fish was good too ;)

Saturday I took care of some business, ran some errands, and did some cleaning. Saturday evening, Julie came over and we all went out to dinner (yes, again). This time we went to Cracker Barrel- it was really good as well. After dinner, we stopped by Target to pick up a Wii gift card so we could buy some games online. We found the original Mario Brother games for the old Nintendo- Mario Brothers One and Three!! Let me just say..... I am OBSESSED! I can not get enough. I am not nearly as good as I was when I was younger, but I still remember all the little tricks!

We also made some good Mexican food this weekend! We made our Southwestern-Mexican Chili and Chicken Enchiladas- they both turned out really good! Thanks to my blog friend Noelle for the recipe!
4 chicken breasts, boiled and shredded
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 (16 oz) sour cream
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 (4 oz) green Chile's
1 can olives, chopped
3-4 green onions, chopped
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Flour tortillas
1 small can red (or green) enchilada sauce

Mix first 7 ingredients in a large bowl. Put mixture in tortillas and add Mozzarella cheese on top and roll. Pour a small amount of enchilada sauce on the bottom of the pan and place rolled tortillas in pan. When pan is full, pour remaining enchilada sauce on top of tortillas and add cheese. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Until next time.... I will be busy playing my Super Mario Brothers!!!!!!

I need some Help!!!

Rusty and I absolutely LOVE Mexican food!!! We have mastered making some killer tacos, fajitas, Mexican chili, and nachos. We are still looking for an awesome recipe for chicken enchiladas!!! We have made some before, but they just are not like the kind you get at a Mexican Restaurant (like Taco Bell.... haha j/k- the hubby made me type it!)
If anyone has a good recipe, please send it my way. We are hoping to make some good Mexican food this weekend! We will definitely be making our Southwestern-Mexican chicken chili and would love to have some enchiladas to go with it!

Hope everyone has a good Friday.... the weekend is almost here!!!!!

Walt Disney World- Christman Style Part 2

Well, this is well overdue but better late than never! Rusty and I went to Disney World for his 30th birthday over the 4th of July. Here is where you can find part of the Christman trip to Disney World :)
Like I mentioned in part one, we went to Disney World for a week for Rusty's 30th birthday! We had a great time... here are some more pictures for your enjoyment!

Rusty and I at our Hotel- Animal Kingdom Lodge, by the fire pit

Cinderella Castle- absolutely gorgeous at night (also the place my husband proposed to me, but that will be another blog!)

Rusty and I love to look for Hidden Mickey's throughout the parks and hotels: we found this hidden Mickey by the train station in Main street, USA which was not in the book! We decided to take a picture and plan to email it to the author of the Hidden Mickey book.... yes, I know we are dorks, but hey we have a good time!! Sorry-I know it is hard to see the hidden Mickey, but look closely and you might be able to spot it!

I don't know how Disney does it, but they have the BEST rice krispie treats EVER! Rusty and I would get one of these as a snack to share- best snack ever :)

Got to look at this outside our hotel room...so pretty!

This crazy bird attacked our safari jeep- our driver just about freaked out! This just confirms and validates why I HATE birds!!!

Hollywood Studios- home to Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster (two of my favorite rides) and the best show at Disney- Beauty and the Beast!!!

Speaking of my favorite show!!!

Great drink at Ohana's restaurant at the Polynesian- awesome place to eat!!!

Grill at Ohana's where they grill all the tasty food!!

I hope you all have enjoyed a little inside look into our vacation! We are Disney Vacation Club members and LOVE going to Disney, anytime of the year. The vacation club is an awesome way to visit often without breaking the bank!! We own property at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but can stay anywhere on property and over 500 different places around the world! Pretty awesome deal, feel free to contact me or comment back with any questions or if you want some more information :)

Until next time, I will be dreaming of being in wonderful Walt Disney World (instead of getting ready for bed and heading to work tomorrow!)

Suprise Date Night :)

Rusty and I both had to work on Saturday (no fun) but Rusty had a wonderful surprise for me when I came home that evening. He told me to go get ready because we were going on a date! It is always fun to have a date night, especially a surprise date night which he planned all on his own!
I took a quick shower and we headed out on our "adventure". Rusty didn't want me to know where we were heading, so we took a lot of back roads which was great in my car with the top down! The sun was setting on our drive, so it was a wonderful drive with the hubs!

I have to share some of the gorgeous pictures I was able to get on our drive!

I love living in the country- back road rides are always so relaxing and romantic!

This is the only picture that Rusty and I took together for the evening- please don't mind my wind-blown hair haha :)

After our relaxing ride, Rusty surprised me with dinner at Sakura Japanese Steakhouse! It was sooooo good! We have not eaten there for well over a year, so it was a nice surprise. The food was amazing and the chef show is always good!

Onion volcano with fire!!

My plate- they give you way too much food! Good thing Rusty was there to help me out ;)

It was a wonderful night! We followed up Saturday night with a great day on Sunday- we got a lot of things done around the house, along with some shopping at Target for our new living room we are working on and grocery shopping! Overall, a good a weekend :)

**Update on Snickers: Snickers is doing pretty good, much better than my last post! He is still taking his anti-biotic and we are still hoping and praying that his x-ray will be clear when we return to the vet in 2 weeks! Thanks for all your comments and concerns about our little guy!!**

Just because this is too darn cute, I have to share! Rusty was laying on the floor in the family room, reviewing his fantasy football picks (which he did today at 6pm- football is starting- help me!)while Snickers enjoyed a little nap!!!

Aspiration Pneumonia....

Who would have thought I would be talking about Aspiration Pneumonia...but sadly I am.

Poor little Snickers had a little choking episode early this evening and was not quite the same since it happened. He was trying to vomit, coughing, and whining in pain for about 30minutes. We decided to call our vet (thank goodness she is a family friend and is always willing to help us). We brought Snickers into the vets and the x-ray confirmed everything that had happened.... when he choked, he also aspirated some small pieces of the food and other yummy stuff into his lungs. His left lung is full of fluid that will need to taken care of.

The poor little guy ended up getting a strong injection of anti-biotic and an injection of pain medication (since he was in so much pain). I never knew aspirating could cause so much pain, but every time you touch his little chest/belly/lung area he would cry. He will have to continue taking pain medication for the first several days and an oral anti-biotic for two weeks. We will then follow back up with our vet in two weeks to see if his lungs have cleared, if not he will need to be placed in the animal hospital with IV fluids and IV anti-biotic!

Please say a little prayer for our little guy, we are hoping for a full recovery without having to take him to the hospital. If you know me and my husband at all, you know that our pups (Snickers and Sophia) mean the world to us, so it has been a pretty stressful evening!!

For now, Snickers is pretty sleepy from the IV pain medication and all the events that have occurred this evening. He is still in a little bit of pain, but much better from before. He is also still coughing, which the vet said could occur for the next 3-5 days. We will be watching him close for the next couple of days- I will keep you guys posted.

Here is a picture of the poor little guy.... curled up in his favorite spot on the couch with his favorite blanket!

first time...

Hello All!
Not sure how this is going to turn out, but I am going to try to do a blog from my blackberry, for the first time

I am laying in bed, having a hard time falling asleep. Maybe this will help...

Tonight the pups got groomed and boy do they look cute!! We seriously have the best dog groomer- I brag about her all the time but she just does such a good job! If you live in the area (York PA) or have the money to either fly her to you (haha) and need a groomer, let me know!!

They are always so tired after they get back from the doggie salon :) Here is a picture of each- in bed, asleep before Rusty and I even got into bed!!!

Weekend Re-Cap Via Photos :)

The weather was so nice this weekend, I spent a lot of time riding around in my car with the top down!!! Always a good time, especially in the sun :)

Saturday afternoon I spent the day with my best friend Julie- we went out to lunch at Bob Evans (yummy) and then took a trip to Target!! You can never go wrong at Target!! Always something to look at and of course spend your money on ;)

My nephew, Huntington, turned four years old on Friday. He has his birthday party on Saturday, so I later part of the day with family celebrating his b-day. I can't believe that he is already four years old!!!
He had a hot wheels themed party, just perfect for a little boy who loves cars!!!

Huntington, enjoying his birthday party!!

Huntington and Aunt Monica :)

Huntington's birthday present! I think the adults loved it more than him ;) My sister (Huntington's momma) taking a ride.... I didn't get a picture of Huntington on it, so this one will have to do!!

Enjoying the moon bounce!

Saturday evening, Rusty and I spent some time together. We are watching a new Television show- Chuck. I was not too sure if I would like it, but it is actually pretty good!

Sunday.... well nothing too fun to report! I worked most of the day and then came home to get ready for the work week.

I hope everyone had a good weekend!!
