The faces of Sophia Rose!

Laying with her tennis ball, on top of Rustys pants! Hard to believe she can get a full size tennis ball in her small mouth.
Just groomed! Love the bows in her hair, makes her look like a little girl- ha!
All bundled up in bed with mommy.....look at those eyes!
Dead asleep on rustys lap.....fell asleep with her toy in her mouth!

Stay tuned for the many faces of Snickers!!!

Wow.... What a Productive Day!

Do you ever have one of those days where you wonder, how in the world did I get that all done?? Well, today was one of those days for me!
It started off with some reading on my new kindle (somethings I have always wanted and my sweet husband got for me). I love reading on it, much easier than keeping a bulky book with you all the time. We then watched an episode of Dexter, a show we just started watching on Net Flix. We love it, I wasn't sure if I would care for it but its actually pretty good!
We then moved right into some early spring cleaning. We did a major cleaning of the house (like regular routine cleaning plus cleaning carpets/floors and trying to get rid of stuff we no longer use). It is never much fun to clean but the rewarding feeling at the end is worth it!
After about 3-4 hours of cleaning we moved right into our workout for the day! Good ol' Jillian Michaels, level 2 of the 30 Day Shred. My knee is feeling much better, so I have been able to return to Jillian once again!
After a much needed shower we (when I say we, I mean Rusty and I- ha) headed to the grocery store to stock up on food for the week. Grocery shopping is a lot different on our new diet but I really love it (since we are still able to eat some super yummy food!) I am always open for some new ideas for low-calorie and low-fat food/recipe ideas!!!!
Then it was time for dinner and making lunches for Monday.... you know the usual nightly routine. Followed by another two episodes of Dexter and Amazing Race. Who else is excited about this new season?? I am hoping the cowboys do good again.... I really liked them the last time they were on, super fun!
One a side note..... I am so excited to say that after 3 weeks of my diet and exercise routine I have lost 20.5 lbs!!!! I am so excited and can't wait to continue :)

The verdict is in......

Well I got some answers.....not one I was looking for but at least I got some answers! I have what is called Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome or better known as "runners knee". Hard to believe since I have not been running, but the doctor said it can happen with high impact exercises which is what the 30 day shred is all about! We are hoping its just a sprain or strain and not a tear! They gave me a cortisone shot to help with the pain and swelling and this wonderfully bulky brace to prevent my knee from bending! Needless to say, I have to take it easy for 2-3 weeks and depending how things are at that point start back slow into working out. All very disappointing since I have really been into doing the video, but I have to listen if I want my knee to get better!

On a side note, I was able to loose 4.5 pounds my second week!!!

Knee Pain.....

I reported in one of my previous blog posts that I started doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and that I was enjoying it besides the little bit of knee pain. Well, a little bit of knee pain turned into a whole lot of knee pain. I can't take it anymore! The pain used to be just during the video but now it is all the time and its giving out on me when I walk and do the steps, not to mention the swelling. It started mainly in my left knee but the right is starting to hurt too, probably because I am favoring my left.
Needless to say, I am sitting in the orthopedic urgent care waiting to be seen. I am hoping they are able to fix my problem and I can get some relief from this pain and start doing my video again!!
Wish me luck!!!

Sunday Lunch

Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.7

This is my first post from my Droid phone, so let's see how this goes!

Rusty and I made an awesome chicken sandwich for lunch today....it was so yummy and fit right into my healthy eating.

It was pretty simple to make, here is what we used:
4oz chicken tenders (about 2 tenders)
1 slice American cheese or pepper cheese (low fat)
1 whole wheat deli thin sandwich
1/4 cup grilled green peppers
1/4 cup grilled onions
1 tbs salsa
optional: Chipotle Tabisco (Rusty put some on his, I didn't)

I grilled our chicken on the George Foreman grill and sauteed the green peppers and onions on the stove. After the chicken was done, I put together the sandwich and then warmed/melted it in the oven for about 5-7 minutes. Here is a picture.....enjoy! It was about 289 calories and 4.5g of fat.

Success with a little knee pain on the side!

Well, I did it!!! I made it through my first week of my new lifestyle change. I decided that I wanted to become healthier, so I cut my diet down to 1500 calories per day and started working out daily.
I started doing Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred!

Wow, I knew I was not the most in shape person.... but she showed me just how out of shape I really was! She makes you work hard.... but at least it is only for 23 minutes. Even though my knees are killing me, I feel great.
Not to mention I was able to shed 12 pounds my first week! I am looking forward to see what this week will bring, I am trying not to check my weight every day so I will let you all know how it turns out at the end of the week.

Southwest Chipotle Chicken Salad

Rusty and I were both home because of the snow/ice today, he had off and I was working from home. Even though I had to do some work, it was nice to spend the day with him!
Going along with my previous post about changes, I am starting to make some changes in my eating habits and counting calories! I had a craving for something Mexican and came up with this idea, Southwest Chipotle Chicken Salad.....didn't really have anything to follow- just pulled some stuff together!

It was pretty easy to make:
- bag of bagged salad (any kind that you like)
- 1/2 can of canned corn (I used salt free)
- 1/2 can of black beans
- chicken (I used the pre-cooked kind and seasoned it with Chipotle Tabasco sauce)
- salsa (just a little on top of your plate will do)
- 1 tbs of Zesty Italian Dressing (you only need a little with all the other
seasoning and salsa)

It turned out very well... good flavor and super healthy- only 285 calories!!

Big Changes....

For those who follow me on facebook as well saw that I posted this the other day...

"Big, Big changes are coming and I am actually pretty excited about it!"

I left it very open ended which left a lot of people wondering what I was talking about! Oh course everyone automatically thought "she must be pregnant".... why is it that people automatically think that? I guess after you have been married a couple of years that is just what people think and expect.....anyway back on topic!

I was going to keep my big change to myself for awhile but have decided that I am going to go ahead and announce it. It might not be too exciting to many people, but I am really excited about it. I am sure you are thinking.... get to it already, so here it goes!

I am working on several differnt lifestyle changes in order to become more healthy! I have been talking about wanting to do this for a long time and now I have finally taken the plunge!

I am doing several different things but the two biggest are....

-cutting down to taking in only 1,500 calories each day
and
- becoming more active, working out at least 5 times each week

I was going to wait to announce my "change" until after I saw some progress but I am actually really motivated and wanted to share with you all! I am hoping to actually post some of my thoughts, meals, and work out ideas on here and would love to hear your ideas well.

Stay tuned for more updates on this journey.....
