My Little Diva :)

Some people have pictures to post on their blog of their children.... well I have pictures to post of my furry children :)
Look at my little diva! She loves to wear her little dresses (yes, I know I am crazy...)
We went to Federal Hill this past Sunday with some friends to eat some good Mexican food and found this cute little shop called "Doggie Style"- cute name huh? They sold everything you could think of for dogs and cats. I found this little dress for Sophia and just had to buy it. Unfortunately I was not able to find a cute shirt for Snickers... but maybe next time.

Nothing better than a zebra printed dress with a hot pink bow to match :)

I only have eight more days left at my current job! I am excited to start my new job, but I am really getting anxious about leaving Stella Maris (my current job). I have so much to do to get ready for the new social worker who will be taking over for me (even though they still have not hired anyone). I just have to take it one day at a time and try my best to get everything done! I have to keep reminding myself of this.... so it actually helps to write it down in my blog.

Another One Bites the Dust.....

Another One Bites the Dust..... and some other random Saturday thoughts!

What a wonderful Saturday! Even though I spent most of the day getting work done, it felt good to be so productive. Sophia got me up at 7:30am this morning- obviously Sophia didn't catch on to the fact that it was the weekend and that her mommy could sleep in!! After I took the pups out to go potty, I figured I would just stay up and start my day. I had lots that I wanted to get done, so maybe it was a good thing that Sophia was my little alarm clock!!

I started off the day by catching up on facebook, blogger, and emails- while watching some re-runs of Big Bang Theory. If you have never watched this show, you should check it out. It is wonderful and so funny. I am def. a fan of Penny and Leonard, I really hope they don't break up for good! I guess we will have to see what happen this Monday.

After catching up on the Internet world, I started my cleaning. My house needed a good cleaning from top to bottom, so I decided to call it a "spring cleaning". It always feels so good to have a nice, clean house. I was just happy to get it all done today, so that tomorrow Rusty and I can relax and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

While cleaning the family room, I found some interesting dog toys.... actually I should say some poor dog toys. Sophia is currently in this bad habit of trying to get the squeaker out of any plush toy.... she will not stop until she gets the darn thing out. I knew that she had gotten a couple out... but until I went through all their toys (which I have to admit is WAY too many) I never knew exactly how many had been attacked by our little girl.....
Here is a picture of SOME of the toys that she has attacked (hence the title....another one bites the dust). Please remember that this is only SOME of the toys.... unfortunately there are more. I am open to any ideas on how to stop her from this bad habit.

Shortly after I took the picture above, I walked into the family to find Sophia into their box of toys looking for her next victim...

Meanwhile, poor Snickers just stands and watches Sophia attack their toys. I am sure he is thinking "Mom, can we please do something about this crazy girl!!!!"

I took a mid day break from cleaning to meet my friend Danny for lunch. We had Five Guys.... totally not healthy at ALL, but it was sooooo good!!! I then ran to the grocery store to get the ingredients to make Oreo Dirt Pie. It is actually very easy to make (only three ingredients- oreos, chocolate pudding, and whip cream). Here is a picture of the final product (a little hard to see, but its soooo good).

Lately I have been trying out my green thumb and have been attempting to grow some violets. I am happy to report that my violet is doing very well. It is quite shocking to me.... since violets are hard to grow and I don't really have much of a green thumb! Maybe the Tri Sigma in me is trying to show its side :)

Our friends Amanda and Lou are going to be coming over this evening to hang out! We have not seen them in awhile, so I am super excited. We are going to have dinner and dessert (oreo dirt pie). It should be a good time for all!

Anyway, thanks for reading about my Saturday. Sorry for all the random thoughts. It has been awhile since I have done a blog post, so I thought I would make up for my lost time!!! I hope everyone has a good weekend. Tomorrow, Rusty and I are going to downtown Baltimore to meet some friends for lunch at a Mexican Restaurant- yummy!

Introducing Hannah Lynn Christman :)

Babies, Babies, Babies.... it seems to be going around!! It feels like more of my friends are either pregnant, just had a baby, or are thinking about having a baby than not.... I guess we are getting around the age range. I can honestly report that I am NOT one of these people, I am not no where near ready to have a little one around!
Even though I am not ready for a baby of my own, it was nice to be around my new baby niece! My sister in law, Jenn, had her baby on Monday 04/19/10. They named her Hannah Lynn. She is as cute as a button. Rusty and I spend the evening at the hospital on Tuesday night, we were in baby heaven :) Here are a few pictures... hope you enjoy!

Just Hanging out :)

Mommy and Hannah

Saying hello to the world!

Mommy and baby are doing great. They headed home from the hospital this morning. I can't wait to hold her again, there is nothing like a little baby!!! Hopefully Rusty and I will be able to visit her sometime this weekend. It will be interesting to see how her older brother (our nephew, Luke) does with her. I think he is going to be surprised to find out that she is coming to live at her house.... and staying!
On a side note.... I can not wait for the weekend!!!!! Two more days....

Thoughts for Thursday!

Here are some random thoughts just floating through this little brain of mine ;)

1. I live for days with nice, sunny weather where I can drive with my top down and/or sit on our back deck! Nice way to work on my tan and get some fresh air!!! What a wonderful way to refresh your mind and soul.

2. I hate to admit it.... but I got into yet ANOTHER show! I am now into watching Dancing with the Stars. I know, I know.... I do not need to follow another show, but I couldn't help myself. I hate to also say this next thing, but its true. Pam Anderson is actually doing pretty good- she is a good dancer and very believable!

3. I am really starting to get excited about starting my new job, I can't seem to stop thinking about what it will be like. At the same time, I am really not looking forward to my last day at my current job (May 6th). I am so bad at saying good bye.... never fun :(

4. I LOVE my little puppies- they always seem to make me smile! Just look at their little faces...

5. Rusty and I had Mexican food last night- it was so yummy! We love some Mexican food :)

6. Last Wish- I had one of the best experiences today at work! We had a patient who was admitted for symptom management (she was having uncontrolled pain). When she was admitted (over the weekend) she was alert and oriented and able to hold full conversations with the staff. She has pancreatic cancer and it is known to take people pretty quickly, but she was very unfortunate in the fact that she declined very quickly. She went from having full conversations with her family on Monday to becoming minimally responsive on Wednesday. Her family shared that she always wanted to die at home. Once they saw that her pain was managed and that her death was imminent, they wanted to take her home. On Thursday, I worked with our nurse practitioner to get her home. We were not even sure if she would be able to survive the hour transport home, but it was evident that we had to try. Even though she was minimally responsive, all you had to say was the words "going home" and she would start trying to move her legs in the bed (like she was trying to get up and go home). It was pretty amazing. We were able to arrange everything at home for her and was discharged this afternoon to return home. When the ambulance crew came to pick her up and she was being lifted onto the stretcher, the transporter whispered in her ear that everything would be alright and that she would be home soon. The patent's eyes opened and a smile came to her face and a tear came to her eye. This just confirms to me that no matter how responsive a person is, they maintain their ability to hear. It was truly a magical moment- not a dry eye in the room! On a positive note, the patient made it home safely and will be able to have her last wish of dying at home. I truly love hospice care, it teaches you so much about life and yourself!

7, On a "lighter" note.... tomorrow if FRIDAY!!!! Yay for the weekend :)

Date Night :)

Well my day started off with some bad news- my window on my car broke!!! Not fun at all, trust me. I have electric windows and then motor went bad in it.... too bad the window was in the down position when it decided to break!!!! Rusty and I had to drop off my car last evening which meant that I did not have a car today. Thank goodness I was able to ride into work with Julie- thank god for best friends :) It is always nice being able to drive into work with someone, especially someone you have so much in common with!
My day at work was super busy! Even though I got into work at 7am, it was hard to make sure that I completed everything for the day and could be ready to leave at 4pm to ride home with Julie. I did it.... sometimes I wonder how, but I did it! I enjoyed my ride home with Julie- our conversations just come so natural!!
On the way home, Rusty called me and told me that he wanted to go out to dinner tonight! Something we usually don't do on a "work night"! I am looking forward to it! Not to mention that I heard from Volkswagen that the repairs on the my window will be completely covered by my warranty :)
Yay for my warranty and date night!!!!!!
Oh, and just in case you were wondering.... out date night will be at the local Mexican Restaurant, YUMMY- can't wait!!!!!!! Hurry home Rusty.

Tuesday Tunes!

I just made this one up myself.... hope you like it (and feel free to jump on the bandwagon!)
I was on my way home this evening and heard this song.... it spoke to me in many, many ways. I thought I would share it with you all. It is called "What Can I Say" by Carrie Underwood. Great song, not to mention great artist: Carrie Underwood. Side note, Carrie and I are in the same national sorority- Sigma Sigma Sigma. Shout out to all my Sigma sisters- love and miss you all! Special shout out to Jodi- are you alive??? I miss your blog posts!!!! How is your new teaching job?
Let me know what you think about the song.... great message and performance!

Fill in the Blank Friday!!

Thank you Andrea for this wonderful blog idea :)

Fill In The Blank Fridays!

1. The strangest thing I've ever eaten is: Pickled Pigs Feet- at my college orientation. Actually a funny story, I was picked to participate in the "fear factor" show they were having. I ended up having to share pickled pigs feet with my partner, Bobby- my stomach turned when I saw them!! Thank goodness I had a good partner who was willing to eat more than his share of the pigs feet! Every bite that I took I felt like I was going to be sick!! Needless to say we did it and ended up winning the "game"!!! Oh the college memories...

2. My best female friend is Julie and Kati! I am blessed to have Julie in my life, she lives just five minutes down there road from me and I depend on her more than she will EVER know! We have been friends since I was a freshmen in high school. We met when I started working at Miller's as a cashier- she had been at Miller's for a few years and took me under her wing!! We continued our friendship throughout the years, but recently became much, much closer! God works in mysterious ways when he led both of our paths to PA!

Even though Kati is now in Korea, she is still my number one southern friend!!! I will never forget the first day we met on the fourth floor of Hilley Hall, the first day we moved into the dorm our freshmen year. We have been linked ever since that day. She knows some of my deepest secrets....and of the memories! Numerous trips to Starbucks (in Greenville) and many late night talks in our dorm room!!! I miss her everyday and can't wait for her to be back in the states so we can plan our girls weekend :) Now if you she would just learn to update her blog more often ;)

3. If I could live in a different era it would be: wow this is a hard one! I think I would have to say the 1940's. The hair, make up, and the clothing was so neat!

4. I like spending time with: my husband, pups, and friends. Add some good TV, great weather, and sunshine= perfection :)

5. If you only know one thing about me it should be that: I am a people pleaser and I hate to disappoint people. Maybe that is why I am social worker- I enjoy helping others and making people feel good!

6. My favorite book of all time is: this is another hard one.... but I think I am going to go with (don't make fun of me.... I know this goes way back) the Boxcar Children Series! I have read every book in the series (when I was younger, of course). But I am not going to lie, I think about reading them again hahaha. Recently I enjoy books written by celebrities- you know all the books with all the good celebrity dirt- book by Kate Gosselin, Tori Spelling, etc!
I am open to new ideas for books- from the above statement it looks like I really need some good ideas!!!

7. The one beauty product I couldn't live without is: chap stick, powder foundation, and some mascara. The three thinks that I put on just about every day! Nothing too fancy, but enough to get me by :) I especially love Burt's Bees

Hope you enjoyed the post! I am working some overtime tomorrow- so no two day weekend for me :( But at least I have off on Sunday!!!!!! Have a great weekend. We are hanging out with our friends Julie and Danny on Saturday night- dinner and then who knows what else! Always a good time with the two of them :)

Thoughts for Thursday!

Here are some of my random thoughts on this Thursday evening... (most of my thoughts are about the TV shows that I watch)

American Idol Recap: There are some people that I really enjoy and others that I think are pretty bad to be in the top 9. I really like Big Mike, Crystal, Lee, and Casey. I thought that Casey did really good this week and got my vote back!! I thought that Andrew, Aaron, and Tim need to go! On a side note, I was so happy to see the judges save Big Mike- I don't think it is time for him to leave yet- especially over Andre Aaron, and Tim.

Survivor Recap- I know some people might not like him because of how sly is he, but I LOVE Russell. He deserves to win this season of survivor!!! If there was ever a player that knew how to play the game, he is def. that player!!

Dancing With The Stars- Kate needs to GO!!!!! She is so bad, I can not imagine who is voting for her.... I guess she sits at home and forces her children to vote for her!! I like Nicole (from the pussycat dolls) and Erin from ESPN. Much to my surprise, Jake from the Bachelor is actually pretty good...

LOST- I will always love LOST, but I am starting to get a little confused (OK, a lot confused) which is making me get a little annoyed. I really hope that they are able to answer a lot of my questions in the next five episodes left.... time will tell!

Weekend- I am super ready for the weekend!!! It has been a long week between work and not feeling very well. Today I had to call out from work... something I don't enjoy doing! Turned out that I have a busted eardrum, which might I add is VERY painful and not fun at all. On top of that, I have a lovely sinus infection.... needless to say I am not a very happy camper! Poor Rusty... gotta love him for putting up with me! I am hoping that the weekend will give me some time to relax and get myself prepared for another fun week... haha!~

Resignation...

Resignation.... The word itself sounds scary! According to the dictionary, resignation is the formal act of giving up or quitting one's current office or position. The definition makes it sound even worse...
So why the blog post about the word "resignation"? This week, for the first time, I resigned from my current position. It was a very hard decision that I made, but I followed my heart and took a position that makes more sense for my lifestyle. I love all the people that I work with, which made my decision even harder. However, most of you know that I commute about 2.5 hours each day for work... which was really starting to get to me (after about 3 years!) One day (without even looking) I received a phone call from a previous co-worker who informed me of an open social work position through York Hospital with home health and home hospice. Since I am a total believer in FAITH, I knew that I had to at least find more information out about the position. It ended up being very attractive and just seemed like the right position for me.
Therefore, for the first time I had to go through the whole process of "resignation". Writing the letter, informing my boss, telling HR, and informing my co-workers. The hardest part being telling all my co-workers. I feel like I am letting people down- which if you know me at all is something I HATE to do! I am slowly starting to understand that I have to make decisions in life that are the best for me and not always the best for everyone else involved... it will take some time, but I am getting better!! Therefore, in this point in my life, the scary word known as resignation, doesn't mean quitting or giving up- its a way to move forward in my career and try new challenges! Wish me luck :)
Anyway, sorry for the long blog just wanted to update you all about my life. My last day at my current position will be May 6th and I will start my new position May 10th! I am super excited, I will be sure to keep you all posted!!!!!!

Flashback Monday!

I was looking up some blog ideas online and saw that in the blog world, Mondays are known as "Flashback Mondays". I decided yesterday that I would participate in that this week. I was thinking all day what I would write about and then on my way home I heard this song.... I only thought it would be appropriate to post this video! Who else remembers this SILLY song??????????

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend- my favorite part was the warm, sunny weather! At least we got through Monday.... I feel like this is going to be a VERY long week! Rusty and I are sitting and watching Dancing With The Stars- my new show of the season. Does anyone else watch this?? Who is your favorite....
I not feeling so hot right now.... I am hoping I am just tired, but I kind of feel like I am coming down with something....

End of the Week Inspiration :)

I found this awesome book laying at the nurses station at work today.... I had a little bit of extra time, so I started reading through it. It was absolutely wonderful, so inspirational!!
The book was called "What I wish For You" by Isaac David Garuda. The book consists of several short quotes about different life lessons, characteristics, and beliefs. If you ever have some free time you should def. check it out. I thought I would share a few of my favorite quotes- enjoy~

"May you not burden yourself with a need to make sense out of everything"- quote about trust

"May you bring a sense of playfulness as well as practicality to all your endeavors"- quote about balance

"May you follow the dictates of your heart, regardless of what other people may think of you"- quote about confidence

"May you appreciate your own company and enjoy times of quiet and solitude"

"May you find creative work that nourishes your spirit with job and filled your pocketbook with green"

"May you discover the true purpose of your existence and pursue that purpose with vigor, grace, and a very good sense of humor"- quote about direction

I hope you enjoyed these quotes, they were a nice ending to my long and very stressful week!!! I am soooo looking forward to this weekend and enjoying some much needed time relaxing and enjoying this wonderful weather. Tomorrow I am spending the day with Julie- a much needed girls day, should be fun :)
