Hoping for a peaceful night sleep.....
I have been having a really hard time getting good sleep for the past few weeks.... I wake up tossing and turning most of the night and can never seem to get comfortable. If that is not bad enough, when I go to get out of bed in the morning my neck, upper back, and shoulders are killing me. At first I thought it was our mattress.... but then I started to think that there is no way that our mattress would need to be replaced after only three years. So, I talked with one of the physical therapist at work who suggested that it might be my pillow and suggested a memory foam pillow.
Tonight, Rusty and I went shopping.... I never knew there would be so many choices for memory foam pillows! The one that I picked out (it felt the most comfortable) is actually a memory foam/gel pillow. It feels awesome, I just hope it does well tonight!
Have you all ever tried any memory foam pillows, if so what do you think??

My New Car!!!
Wow, it has been almost a month since my last post. I have been super, super busy between work, preparing for the holiday's, and searching for a new car.
It took us about two weeks to find the right car, but I am glad that we took our time and found the right one. I was super sad to even have to get a new car.... after all, I love my little beetle! However, after spending tons of money this summer to fix some major problems..... it was hard to digest that it was starting to have even more problems (and big ones too). I couldn't see putting any more money into it.... so a new car was a must!
We ended up getting a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.... a small crossover! I love it.... its fun sitting up high on the road :) The fact that I can put into 4WD is nice too.... after all making home visits in the snow is not always fun! The heated seats and awesome look are an added bonus!

Healthy Dining Finder
Since I have been watching my calories and working on dropping some weight, I am always looking for new recipes, ideas, and way to eat out but still stay under my calorie limitations.
This evening I came across an awesome new resource for planning your meals out at a restaurant. Whenever I know that I will be eating out, I try to think in advance what I will be able to eat without feeling guilty. I use a calorie counter on my droid phone and it has a lot of restaurants listed but some of my favorites are missing or the ones that are listed only have a couple of items listed (usually stuff that I am not interested in ordering). So, I found this new website called Healthy Dining Finder.
Click on the name and it should link you to the website! You can search restaurants by alphabet or even by your zip code. The menus listed for each restaurant only include healthy options and even list low sodium meals if that is something you are looking for as well. Looking at the site made me hungry- ha (you have been warned!)
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!!!!

I am here.....
I have been a little MIA lately...between sickness and work, I am staying busy.
Last weekend I woke up feeling super sick and ended up at the doctors on Monday. Diagnosis: Upper Respiratory infection, Sinus Infection, Left East Infection, and Bronchitis. I was out of work for several days and slowly returned towards the end of week, but I am still getting over the feeling of having no energy, coughing up my lungs, and just feeling bad!
To make things worse, things have been rough at work..... like I needed anything else? Working in hospice care is rough on your heard and sometimes it just gets to be a little too much.... well I think that is where I am right now! I need to find a way to relax and try to leave work at work and not bring it home.... easier said than done!
So, anyway. I am here.... I am hoping to get back into more routine posts and something a little more exciting..... sorry!

Like Grandma's Chicken Pot-Pie- Recipe
I found a new healthy recipe the other day and gave it a try.... it turned out super yummy and the best part was I didn't have to feel quilty about the calories.
Pretty simple recipe with a few changes to the traditional Chicken Pot-Pie which is not usually so healthy.
Like Grandma's Chicken Pot-Pie
2 pounds of chicken breasts (about 3-4)
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 teaspoons flour
2 teaspons chicken bouillon
1 can 98% fat free cream of chicken soup
1 can 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup
2 soup cans of water
1/2 bag of frozen vegetables (I used the one with corn, carrots, green beans, lima beans, etc)
1 can of reduced fat or wheat biscuits
1. Boil chicken and cut into cubes
2. Add chicken, soups, water, black pepper, flour, chicken bouillon, and vegetables into the crock pot- stir well
3. Cut uncooked biscuits into quarters and then gently mix into crock pot
4. Cook in crock pot on low for 5-6 hours
It turns out looking like this- we loved it! It gives you that home made, soul food feeling that chicken pot-pie usually does without the quilt!!

Happy 3rd Birthday Little Girl!
We celebrated Sophia's 3rd birthday last evening. I can't believe she is already 3 years old.... I remember the day we got her (she was 10 months old!)
She was a very timid, scared little thing.... boy how she grown! Now she doesn't think twice about pushing her poor, big brother around, but I guess that's why we love her ;)
We had a little party for her last night, her honorable guests consisted of her mommy, daddy, and her best friend and brother- Snickers!!
We even had party hats!
Party treats for the pups!
Birthday Girl- look at that sweet face :)
Birthday Toys!
Big brother, Snickers, helping to celebrate (dark picture, his little face looks so dark!)
I think she loved her party.... her toy was a big hit. I put both of them down on the floor and she picked the corn, she has not let it out of her sight since :)
Happy Birthday Sophia! I hope you had a wonderful day. It will be time to celebrate Snicker's 4th birthday (very hard to believe) in a couple of months!!!

Fall Bakery Treats!
Rusty and I ate at Perkins the other night and found these lovely fall goodies. We couldn't resist....cinnamon bun with icing and pumpkin muffin with icing. We shared both of them.....they were delicious!!!
But no more treats, its back strict on the diet :)

Poor Rusty...
Poor Rusty woke up Sunday with some pain/stiff neck. I thought it was just caused from sleeping on it wrong, but come Wednesday he didn't have any relief from the heating pad and over the counter meds. We headed to the orthapedic urgent care and got his neck checked out....rusty was in so much pain at this point. It checked out to be a severe pulled muscle- so now we are trying more heat, stronger meds, rest (when possible), and stretching as tolerated. If it doesn't get better within one week, he will have to start physical therapy. I am hoping and praying it will be better by then.....I am trying to give him lots of TLC to help speed along his recovery!!

Look into the Future!
Here is a look into the future (well about 60 years from now).....we will call it "Christman's gone Silver!"
This was Halloween customs for a party we attended over the weekend. We decided to go as an "old" couple. While we were shopping we found a lot of tacky Christmas clothing and thought it would be funny to say that we got "confused" and thought it was a Christmas party instead of Halloween! We had a good time.... the wigs were super itchy but well worth it! The walker, cane, and depends were cherry on the top ;)

Next stop is that beautiful castle!!!
- hope you enjoyed our Disney poem, yes I know we (meaning rusty and myself are dorks!)

Sleepover Fun!
Our nephew, Luke, had a sleepover at our house for the first time this weekend. Rusty picked him up after work on Saturday and we took him back home on Sunday morning. I am not sure who was more excited about the adventure.... us or Luke, haha!
Saturday we went to the park to play (poor Luke sat in some water on the slide, but still had fun) then we headed to Chick-Fil-A for dinner (boy can he eat- 5 chicken nuggets and he is only 3.5yrs old). We then headed to the grocery store to pick up some snacks and juice boxes and then headed home to make our fort!
We ended up setting up a fort in our family room (pretty easy to make thanks to the couch cushions, dining room chairs, and bed sheets!)Luke loved the fort, he kept forgetting the word "fort" and would call it a cliff- ha!
We watched 1/2 of Toy Story from inside the fort until Luke told us that he was tired. We were not sure how well he would sleep, but after we turned off the movie he turned on his side and closed his eyes. He never woke up again until 6am the next morning (a little early for me, but he did great!) He loved sleeping in the fort and the pups loved having him around, especially Sophia! She didn't let him out of her sight the whole time he was over.
The next morning we watched spiderman cartoons from the fort, ate breakfast, and played with the pups.....then it was time for him to head back home. We had a great time and are looking forward to more sleepover dates!!
Enjoy the pictures fror our adventure!!!

9/11
I think we all remember exactly where we were when the world changed that September morning. For me, I was in Greek mythology class when someone from the office came into our room and whispered to our teacher. The look on his face told me that something was very, very wrong.
I was 16 when all the events took place, I don't think that I fully understood everything that was happening but I knew it was not good and that things would never be the same....
A local town near us put together a memorial for 9/11 called "The Healing Field". It was absolutely amazing..... one flag for every person who passed away on that day. A note card was attached to each flag providing information on the person including their name, age, location, and information about the person. They also included cards of local service men/women who have died in war.
There were people of every age, race, culture, etc. The stories were so touching.... I was not able to read every card but read many of them. All the stories were touching, but some stuck out and really pulled at your heart strings.
- A mother and father which were on their way to their son's wedding when the plane crashed
- A set of parents who just adopted their 3 year old boy and were on the plane bringing him home for the first time
- A 80 year old lady who was making a major life change- moving across the country with her daughter to spend more time with her during her last years
- A man who booked an early flight when he found out his wife was in labor with their first child, he never got to meet his child
- A 24 year old girl just landed her dream job in the world trade center on the 105Th floor. She reported for her first day which was 9/11
- A man on one of the plane's was on the way to claim his son's body who died in a head on collision on his honeymoon
I could go on and on.... there were so many touching stories. All of them were.... very sad and I know something no one will ever forget.
The sight of all the flags was simply amazing.... hard to believe that the flags that just seemed to go on and on forever should have been faces standing there as people.... not flags.

Wow... What A Savings!!!
As some of you might know, I have troubled by car troubles the past couple of months!
It went a little something like this:
1. New Breaks (not really trouble, just routine work but still a cost)- about $500
2. New Tires- about $600
3. Broken Fuel Relay (which was causing my car to sometimes not start...not fun!)- $500
4. Broken Temperature Cage- $220
5. Transmission slipping.... not exactly sure of the cause at this time, my car is still in the shop- cost to fix this problem is going to range from $280-4,000 (please pray for the lower cost!!!)
All of these repairs have occurred within the past several month. Numbers 3,4 and 5 have occurred within the past 2 months. Needles to say, I have been a little stressed about my car and the amount of money we are pouring into it.
I was really stressed out yesterday when I heard the news that my current problem might be because my whole transmission is going up.... I cried and cried. I love my car, but just not sure if I am ready to pour that amount of money into it!!!
My wonderful husband assured me that everything was going to be OK and we would just have to wait and see what happens.... after all, besides praying and hoping there is little that we can do to control the situation. Gosh.... sometimes he is so right ;)
I decided today to look into our monthly bills to see if it was possible to save a little money, after all it never hurts to save! I am proud to announce that I was able to save about $165 each month just by doing the following simple tasks:
1. I merged out auto insurance policies together (something that I should have done right after we got married but just kept putting it off). This saved us about $90 each month- yes!!!
2. I contacted our cable provider (Direct TV) which we have been with since 2008 and talked to them about lowering our monthly payment for being a loyal customer. They were actually very nice about it (it also helped that our contract was up for renewal this month). We received $30 off each month plus the best part.... the hubby got his NFL Sunday ticket back..... for FREE! Double YES!!
3. Changed our Internet provider from Comcast (who was charging us $69 a month for high speed Internet, a total rip off because we don't have any of their other services) to Verizon for $45 less a month (same Internet speed)
Who would have thought that these simple phone calls could give you that much savings each month??!!
Try it for yourself, you never know what you could be saving! Keep me posted if you get any good "deal"!

Stress!!!
I can't stand stress.... and I stress often!!! I have been having a lot of car troubles over the past couple of months and my car went back into the shop this morning. I thought it was going to need a new valve body (which is like the brain of the transmission, per my mechanic) but I got a phone call today from my mechanic who shared that my car might need a WHOLE new transmission!!!! Ahhhhhhh, could this come at a worse time????? 23 days before we go on vacation.... not exactly how I wanted to spend the money we have saving for our vacation!!!
For now, the mechanic is going to try to change my transmission filter and fluid and see if that will actually fix the problem (please pray for me that this will do the trick!) If not, it sounds like we will have to replace the whole transmission.....
it hurts my stomach to even type that!
I love my little Volkswagen beetle but today she is not behaving and she needs to readjust herself!!!
Please say a prayer (or two) that changing the transmission fluid will fix the problem!!!
Thanks for listening to my vent, it has been a bad day :(

Hurricane Irene!
It is hard to believe that just a few days ago we experienced an earthquake in Pennsylvania and now they are telling us to prepare for a hurricane!?
It sounds like hurricane Irene will be pretty intense and cause some pretty serious issues to much of the east coast. I guess we can only hope and pray that the weather forecasters are wrong and the storm wont be as strong as what they are predicting.
I am especially thinking of my friends in North Carolina.... hold on tight, sounds like you guys are really going to be hit hard!!!
Rusty and I both have to work Saturday during the day but should be home by 5-6pm before it starts getting too bad up here. We plan to spend Saturday evening and Sunday with the pups.... taking some time to relax and enjoy each others company (I guess the hurricane is at least good for that, right?)
For all those who live in the north east... stay safe!!!

Earthquake in Pennyslvania??
I never thought I would be typing those words, but today it happened. Well I guess thats what you would call it.... we felt the shock of the actual Earthquake that hit in Northern VA.
I do home care/hospice for a living but I was actually in the office catching up on some paperwork when it occured. Thank god I was not at someone's house, I think I would have been more scared. My office is on the 4th floor of a building, so it was really weird to look out and see the windows "shifting" back and forth. Luckily, we had no damage to our office building or our home.
I can't say that I was scared, just felt a little weird. I never thought that I would be involved in an earthquake in Pennsylvania! I was very eager to leave the office and get home to check on our pups. I felt bad that they were home all alone during it.... I am not even sure if they knew anything was happening but still I was nervous for them. Rusty assured me that they probably just slept through it, but I am hearing reports on the news and radio that some dogs actually started barking and carrying on a few mintutes before the earthquake hit, like they were able to sense that it was coming??
Weird, the whole thing is just very weird to me. Has anyone else ever been in an earthquake? What did you guys think about it??

One Too Many!
My brother in law, Michael, is in a band named One Too Many (yes, I know what a name) and he played a show this weekend at a local Irish pub. Rusty, Julie, and I headed out Saturday night to see his show.
We had a great time! We went out to dinner before the show at Chipotle, which is always a good time :)
The show was really good, the band sounded great. They played some of their own original music plus some fun cover songs.
Here are some pictures from the night!

4. The band again, my brother in law is the singer!

Mexican Stir Fry
Rusty and I created a new meal the other day, based off of one of our favorite places to eat- Chipotle! We wanted something that tasted the same, but a little more healthy! Here is what we came up with!
Mexican Stir Fry
Ingredients (makes two servings):
Two Boneless Chicken Breasts- cut into strips
1 Cup Canned Corn (low sodium)
1 Cup Black Beans (drained)
2 Cups (uncooked) brown rice
1/2 lime
Cilantro (can use dried)
1 sweet onion (cut into strips)
1 green pepper (cut into strips)
Pepper
Garlic Powder
Weber Chipotle Marinade (powder mix)
1/4 cup Olive Oil (for marinade mix)
1/4 cup water (for marinade mix)
Directions:
1. Cut Chicken into strips and mix chipotle marinade (with water and olive oil). Let stand for 1 hour before cooking. We grilled our chicken, but you could cook it on the stove top if needed
2. Cut onion and green peppers into strips, seasons with pepper and garlic powder. Cook on stove top until tender. Add corn to the skillet once peppers and onions are about half way done
3. Boil water for brown rice, add rice once water is boiling. While cooking, seasons with lime and cilantro to taste
4. Heat black beans on the stove for about 5-10 minutes or until warm
5. Place 1 cup cooked brown rice on a plate, add 1/2 cup black beans, top with peppers/onion/corn mix, and then add chicken on top
There you have it, a little Mexican stir fry! Super yummy and healthy!
1 serving is about 6.5 grams of fat and 425 calories.
Enjoy!

50 Things you Might Not Know About Me!
I don't generally partcipate in these sort of blog titles/topics but I don't really have anything too exciting to report from the weekend (I worked, did yard work, ran errands....nothing very exciting) so I thought I would give it a try.
I am not sure if I am going to be able to come up with 50 exciting things about me.... but here it goes!
1. I have an obsession with Walt Disney World! It is my favorite place on the earth and I LOVE to visit.... multiple times each year! I also follow several blogs devoted just to Disney World! My favorite Disney blog to follow is Easy WDW :)
2. My husband and I joined the Disney Vacation Club during our honeymoon visit to Disney. Our Home Resort is Disney Animal King Lodge Kidani Village!
3. I have been to Disney World in FL more than 25 times! Are you convinced that I am a HUGE fan???

New Design!
You might have noticed that my blog received a little bit of a makeover! I decided that I wanted a different look with my pictures at the top of my page. I was getting a little tired of the collage I had going on, a little too busy!
So, I came up with a more calm collage.... I hope you all enjoy! I do want to add some color to the background but can't seem to figure out how to do that.... Any ideas???

Storms-A-Brewing
We have had some crazy weather here in Pennsylvania the past couple of days/weeks. Some wild, crazy storms have been coming through and causing some damage in the area. The ironic thing is, we have gone several weeks with no rain at all. Our yard is starting to look like a dessert, so I am thankful for the rain just not the crazy storms!!
The other day we had a really wild storm come through, with some crazy wind! I thought that our house was going to blow over! Luckily, our house stood still but we did encounter a little bit of damage to the outside of our house. Nothing too serious, thank goodness!
Some of our siding near our bedroom window was misplaced and our rain gutter was damaged from the high winds- crazy!
Unfortunately, our local high school was not as lucky as far as damage is concerned. The high school is just right down the street from our house, and it looks like a small tornado came through.... check out these pictures of the trees the wind took down. These were all mature trees....
According to the weather forecast, we have another 4 days of rain/storms. I don't mind the rain but I get a little scared of the storms.... two things that I am scared of in this world- thunder storms and birds!!! HaHa
Well, the weekend is over. Thank goodness for me, I was on-call all weekend and I am always happy to go off call :) But not too happy to start another work week....

"It's Me Mario...."
AAAAAAAAAuY/aYaBc5l25-k/s1600/mario.jpg">
Rusty and I are having a wild and exciting Friday night here in the Christman house, Ha! Not really..... it has consisted of making dinner on the grill, working out, and now playing some Super Mario Brothers 3 on the Wii!
We really didn't feel like getting into too much tonight....we both have to work tomorrow and I am on-call all weekend so playing Mario Brothers seemed like a good idea to us both! I loved playing when I was younger, so its nice to travel back to your "younger day" memories! I become super competitive, but we still have lots of fun! My favorite is when Mario says..... "It's Me Mario!" haha
Rusty had a little "friend" who wanted to also sit and play..... look how cute little Snickers is!!
Meanwhile, Sophia is just laying and relaxing! They have both actually had a pretty traumatic couple of days! They both got double ear infections- at the same time! Lucky me.... they did not sleep for three straight days, I am so not ready for babies!!!! Sophia's infection in her right ear was really bad, it was even full of blood (poor baby). I think they are both starting to feel a little bit better, but still sleeping more than usual! Thank goodness the medicine is helping them sleep at night!
Well I am off to kick Rusty's butt in mario brothers 3! Until next time....

Random Weekend Recap!
Rusty and I had yet another busy but fun weekend! We both work just about every Saturday, so that only leaves Sunday for us to have a little fun! Please enjoy our weekend fun through these fun but random pictures!!
Saturday night Rusty and I made an awesome dinner on the grill! Pork Tenderloin with pineapple and roasted veggies (green peppers, onions, squash, and potatoes). It was soooo yummy and Rusty's idea, I have to say he is a very good griller!
We finished Saturday evening off just right..... with a trip to our local ice cream shop! They have the best black raspberry soft serve ice cream, it is to die for! I am not even that big of an ice cream lover, but this stuff is amazing!!!
Sunday was my nephew's 5th birthday party! It is hard to believe that Huntington is five years old already!!! His party was so cute, pirate themed!
His cake was awesome! It was a cupcake cake, so good!
I got him a monster truck that looked like a shark, he loved it! Its always nice when your gift is a big hit!!!
Huntington got a mini 4-wheeler for his birthday, he is in LOVE! He did a lot of showing off around the yard.... he looks so big!
Three sisters! Amy in the back (my middle sister) and Jenny in the front (my oldest sister).... that leaves me in the middle as the baby :)
Early Sunday evening Rusty and I headed out on the boat to Lake Meade with out neighbors.... a nice relaxing ending to the day!
Overall, it was a nice weekend. All good things must end, so it is off to start another work week. But not until I finish watching my guilty pleasure.... New Jersey Housewives! These women are crazy, but I love the drama :)
